Ricky Weiss lands podium finish with Southern Nationals at Tazewell

With Friday’s scheduled event at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.) falling to wet weather, Ricky Weiss made his lone start of the weekend on Saturday with the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.). (Michael Moats photo)

Drawing 26 cars for the Ray Varner Ford 53, Weiss timed in 12th-fastest in qualifying before placing third in his heat. Starting the $10,053-to-win A-Main in ninth, Ricky improved six positions in the 53-lap affair to register a third-place finish. He followed Dale McDowell and Mack McCarter across the line with David Payne and Forrest Trent completing the Top-5 finishers.
