Following the 12th-fastest time in his group, Wenger missed a transfer spot by one position in his heat race, relegating him into the B-Main. Needing to place third or better to make the $22,022-to-win A-Main, McKay was an early retiree from the 12-lapper.
For another $22,022-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), McKay laid down the third-fastest time in his group before placing third in his heat. Rolling off 18th for the A-Main, Wenger clawed forward one spot in the 50-lap affair to finish 17th.
On Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) for the MARS Racing Series-sanctioned Farmer City 74 presented by Douglas Dodge, Wenger gained two spots in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. With $15,000 on the line in the feature, McKay lost ground late in the race after going with the wrong tire choice, marking him 13th on the rundown when the checkered flag flew.
To wrap up the Illinois Speedweek on Saturday, Wenger headed to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) to defend his home-turf for the Titan Industries FALS Spring Shootout. In a field of 50 cars, McKay stopped the clock third-fastest in his group before capturing a 10-lap heat race win. Starting the $30,000-to-win A-Main in sixth, Wenger faded one spot in the 50-lapper to register a seventh-place finish.
