Top-10 finish in Yankee Dirt Track Classic opener

On Friday afternoon Spencer Diercks invaded 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) pulling double duty for the 43rd annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic. Drawing a stout field of 50 Late Models for the event co-sanctioned by the Malvern Bank and Hoker Trucking Series’, Diercks timed in 21st fastest before gaining one spot in his heat to pick up the win. Starting the $4,000-to-win A-Main in 10th, Spencer clawed forward three spots to register a seventh place finish.

In the Modified ranks, Spencer edged his way into the main event with the second and final transfer spot in his heat behind Brian Mullen. Starting the feature in 11th, Diercks was an early retiree from the 30-lapper on the fifth lap.

With rough track conditions on Friday, Diercks elected to sit out Saturday night’s program.
