Spencer Diercks races to Hoker Trucking Series win at West Liberty
On Thursday afternoon, Spencer Diercks embarked on a tripleheader weekend with the Hoker Truck Series as he visited C.J. Speedway (Columbus Junction, Iowa) for the $3,000-to-win opener. With a fifth-place finish in his heat race pinning him ninth on the starting grid for the feature, Spencer slipped back to a 22nd-place outing. (Mike Ruefer photo)
The following night at West Liberty Raceway (West Liberty, Iowa), Diercks came in sixth quick in time trials before placing fourth in his heat. Earning the second-starting position for the main event, Spencer paced the field for the first 22 circuits until he lost the top spot to polesitter Nick Marolf on lap 23. Regaining the lead five laps later, Diercks stormed to his first career Hoker Trucking Series victory, which came over Dave Eckrich, Chad Holladay, Jason Hahne, and Charlie McKenna. His fifth win of 2021 was worth $5,000.
For the weekend finale on Saturday at Maquoketa Speedway (Maquoketa, Iowa), Spencer locked his spot into the show with a seventh-place finish in his heat. With $3,000 on the line, Diercks was an early retiree from the 30-lapper on the 15th circuit.
