Marlar picks up $8,000 at Rockcastle Speedway during busy Fourth of July weekend

Earns $8,000 Ultimate Heart of America Series Payday

WINFIELD, Tenn. (07/07/25) – Mike Marlar continued his holiday-season success on Saturday night, backing up a Memorial Day weekend win with a Fourth of July victory in the Tommy Lanham Memorial at Rockcastle Speedway aboard his Quick Supply Co. / Bruening Rock Products No. 157 Infinity Race Cars Late Model.

The Tennessee native pocketed an $8,000 payday in the Ultimate Heart of America Series event after taking the lead on lap 29 and holding steady through a chaotic final stretch to secure his second victory of the season.

"I was lucky to get through that (lap-35 scramble). I got a lot of damage, but it was good enough to run in the last couple laps with it," Marlar said. "The body's really bad and I could tell something's bent, a bunch of stuff. Sometimes that stuff happens. I looked for the hole, but the whole track was blocked. You just couldn't do nothing, so I tried to go up there and park and just stop for the wreck, but then I got knocked into it, it felt like. Part of it. Just thankful to get a win here."

The victory capped a busy holiday weekend for Marlar, which began Thursday at Mudlick Valley Raceway (Tollesboro, Ky.) with the Iron-Man Late Model Series-sanctioned 4B4EVER 40. After qualifying fourth in his group and finishing second in his heat race, Marlar advanced two spots in the feature—run in tribute to the late Jackie Boggs—to finish as the runner-up.

On Friday, Marlar joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Atomic Speedway for the Independence 50. He advanced to the $25,000-to-win feature via a fifth-place heat finish and climbed four spots in the 50-lap main event to place ninth.

Returning to Kentucky on Saturday, Marlar locked into the Ultimate Heart of America Series weekend finale with a heat race win at Rockcastle Speedway. Starting on the front row for the sixth annual Tommy Lanham Memorial, Marlar stayed patient before making his move—slipping past Justin Rattliff on lap 29 and leading the final 11 circuits to secure the $8,000 payday.
