Marlar pockets $15,000 in Battle at the Border finale with World of Outlaws

18th Career WoO Win Worth $15,000

WINFIELD, Tenn. (07/14/25) – Mike Marlar made it two wins in as many weeks on Saturday night, capturing the second round of the Battle at the Border at Sharon Speedway with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Real American Beer Late Model Series.

Behind the wheel of his Quick Supply Co. / Bruening Rock Products No. 157 Infinity Race Cars Late Model, Marlar powered past Bobby Pierce on lap 43 and never looked back. He stretched his lead to more than two seconds by the time he crossed the finish line, securing the 18th WoO victory of his career and pocketing the $15,000 winner’s check.

“Yesterday was a little rough, I had to go to the tail of the feature (in a backup car). But today, we got everything with a clean slate,” Marlar said. “This car hadn’t been raced since Brownstown of last season, so (my team) jumped in there and made it happen today. (Car owner) Greg Bruening, man I’m sure he’s at home excited tonight, it’s been kinda tough going this year, but we’re getting ‘er better.”

Marlar and the Skyline Motorsports team kicked off the three-day weekend on Friday with the opening round of the Battle at the Border at Sharon Speedway. After switching to a backup car following his heat race, Marlar was forced to start from the tail of the feature but rebounded with a 13th-place finish.

On Saturday, Marlar opened the program with a heat race victory before drawing the No. 3 pill in the feature redraw. Exercising patience early on, he steadily worked his way forward and powered past Friday’s winner, Bobby Pierce, on lap 43 as the pair exited turn four. From there, Marlar controlled the final circuits of the 50-lap main event to collect his third win of the season. He finished 2.013 seconds ahead of Pierce, who was seeking his fourth consecutive World of Outlaws win at the Ohio oval.

Marlar wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a solid sixth-place finish in the DIRTcar Summer Nationals finale at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.

Marlar plans to return to action this evening as Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee hosts the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals for the $7,552-to-win Scott Sexton Memorial.
