Jeff Taylor visits victory lane in Modified at Batesville
Jeff Taylor registered his first win of the 2022 campaign over the weekend at Batesville Motor Speedway in his Industrial Electric No. 5 Wehrs Machine/ Skyway Auto Group/ New Vision Graphics / Shaw Race Cars IMCA Modified.
“We had a pretty good weekend at Batesville (Motor Speedway) in both the Modified and the Stock Car. I really love that place. We got the Modified win in the opening round and was just a tad off in the final two races. In the Stock Car, I’m still battling to get comfortable in it because it’s so different than the Modified, but I’ll get there,” Taylor said. “We’ll head to Batesville and West Plains this weekend and hopefully pick up a couple of checkered flags.”
After seeing Mother Nature shift the weekend’s schedule back a day, Jeff Taylor made the short trip to Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) on Friday afternoon to compete in both the Modified and Stock Car ranks for the opening round of the Arkansas Spring Nationals presented by Skyway Auto Group.
After starting the night with a heat race win in his Modified, Taylor raced to his first win of 2022 season in the feature, which came 1.158 seconds ahead of Rusty Jeffrey.
Austen Becerra, Drake Findley, and Brint Hartwick completed the Top-5 finishers in the 30-lap affair.
In the No. 5 IMCA Stock Car entry, Jeff followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a 13th-place finish in the feature.
Double programs were contested on Saturday, and in the first one, Taylor carried a steady pace throughout the 30-lap Modified feature to finish second. He trailed Rusty Jeffrey to the checkers.
After finishing third in his Stock Car heat race on Friday, Taylor advanced forward six positions in the A-Main to finish third.
For the finale on Saturday, Jeff capped off the three-day event with a fifth-place finish in the Modified finale.
Starting the Stock Car feature in 11th, Taylor gained one spot to register a 10th-place finish.
