Taylor continues with IMCA Wild West Speedweek, finishes 3rd at Coos Bay
Over the past several days, Jeff Taylor continued to take part in the IMCA Wild West Speedweek in the Pacific Northwest, an eight-day stretch of races more than 2,000 miles from his hometown of Locust Grove, Arkansas.
With two races already in the books, Taylor kicked off the week on Monday at the 3/8-mile Coos Bay Speedway (Coos Bay, Oregon) where he had finished as runner-up the night before.
With 29 IMCA Modifieds on hand, Taylor finished fourth in his heat and won his B-Main, placing his No. 5 Shaw Race Cars entry 17th on the grid for the 35-lap feature. He masterfully drove through the field to pick up 14 spots and come home third. Taylor followed Timothy Allerdings and Jesse Williamson under the checkered flag, while Troy Morris III finished fourth and Jim Pettit II was fifth.
Next up was the 3/8-mile Douglas County Dirtrack (Roseburg, Oregon) on Tuesday, where 35 Modifieds were assembled. Taylor won his heat race and started on the pole for the 35-lap main event. He did not finish the race after being caught in an accident while leading and registered a 19th-place result.
Taylor ultimately was unable to compete with his No. 5 in the tour’s four remaining events.
