Jeff Taylor competes in Brandon Mitchell Memorial at Old No. 1 Speedway
Arkansas native Jeff Taylor honored a racer from his home state on Saturday when he traveled to Old No. 1 Speedway in the northeast portion of the Natural State. At the quarter-mile track, he participated in the Brandon Mitchell Memorial highlighting the memory of the competitor known as “Heavy.”
Taylor was one of 47 Modified drivers at the facility in Harrisburg, Arkansas, seeking a victory worth $5,001. Driving the No. 54 Skyway GTO Shaw car of race promoter Blake Burns, Taylor turned in the sixth-quickest time in his group qualifying session. He won his heat race and was poised to start fifth in the Heavy Duty 35 finale.
However, he suffered a rear-suspension failure before taking the green in the feature. He recorded a 25th-place result with a DNF.
