Taylor 8th in Legendary 100 finale
On the second full weekend in September, Jeff Taylor traveled north to campaign Taylor Olson’s No. 55 Modified in the three-day Legendary 100 event at Cedar Lake Speedway.
When the racing began on Thursday at the 3/8-mile high-banked clay oval in New Richmond, Wisconsin, Taylor was one of 35 Modified drivers in the pit area. After qualifying deep in the field, he started 16th in one of two 20-lap features. He climbed seven spots with a decent car and finished ninth.
With 33 Modifieds on hand the next night, Taylor again struggled in qualifying, but moved forward in his 20-lap A-Main. He drove from his 14th starting spot to finish 11th despite fighting continued steering tightness.
Saturday’s $2,000-to-win finale brought 37 Modifieds to Cedar Lake, and Taylor turned in his best result of the weekend even as he faced multiple challenges.
He first finished fifth in his B-Feature, putting him in the Last Chance Qualifier. A runner-up result in the LCQ started him 24th on the grid to begin the 30-lap main event. He moved steadily forward in the race and had climbed into the top five when he was collected in an accident.
As a result, Taylor's focus shifted to bringing home a decent finish and he came home in the eighth spot.
