Jimmy Gray Motorsports is based in Lynchburg, Tenn. Driver Jim Gray is a second-generation driver following in the footsteps of his late father Jimmy Gray.
Jimmy Gray competed in dirt races in Tennessee and Alabama, calling Winchester (Tenn.) Speedway and Duck River Speedway in Wheel, Tenn., his two home tracks.
Jimmy Gray Motorsports was "unofficially" founded in 1968 when Jimmy Gray began racing his Omaha Orange-colored, No. 47, CFW Construction-sponsored 1955 Chevrolet.
Jimmy Gray continued to drive until 1996, when he competed in his last event at Hohenwald, Tenn., finishing fifth. During a 38-year driving career at local speedways, Jimmy Gray racked up more than 125 victories. He added 20 more wins as a car owner during the 1996-1997 seasons with Bill Mahan handling the driving duties.
After a four-year break, JGM resumed racing with Jim Gray behind the wheel.
