Driver Information
Johnny began racing at the age of 15 in 2009 at Slinger Super Speedway in the 4 cylinder division. He then quickly transferred to limited lates and eventually super lates. After multiple wins and fast times they decided to try traveling some more and the rest was history. Below is our 2019 results briefly with our 2020 plans.
After a very strong run at the 2018 Snowball Derby, Johnny and the entire JD Motorsports team knew that 2019 was going to be a stellar year for them. The momentum had started during the season opener of the ARCA Midwest tour at Madison International Speedway. Johnny led the most laps of the race to barely lose it at the end due to a pit stop strategy. The team was not disappointed with their run and kept their heads up and battled through some tough tracks.
The next strong run from the team would come shortly after at the Slinger Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway where they would finish third to ex Nascar Star Matt Kenseth and current Nascar Camping World Series Truck driver Ty Majeski. The momentum had been strong to keep rounding out top five finishes at almost every race they had entered.
After a few weeks off the team traveled to Wisconsin International Raceway for the Dixieland 250 where Johnny would start near the back of the field after a deep invert and drove his way to a second place finish to Ty Majeski once again. Although this race wasn’t won by the team, it sure felt like it and was a strong confidence booster to finish out the remaining part of the season. Johnny and the team would end up finishing in the top five in the next few ARCA Midwest tour events.
A few months off gave the team time to prepare for a few year-end specials. In November, the team traveled to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway to compete in the All American 400 and unfortunately they had gotten caught up in an accident on a restart and surrendered the race finishing in the 24th position. To close out the year Johnny and the team took their last race to the sunshine state of Florida at the granddaddy of them all, the Snowball Derby. After qual- ifying ninth and finishing 13th in their first attempt in 2018, the team felt confident to have a strong performance in 2019. A strong field of cars were on hand for the 2019 event and Johnny would qualify 18th for the race and would have an 18th place finish in the main event.
Johnny and the JD Motorsports team are eager to get the 2020 race season started. They currently plan to race the entire ARCA Midwest Tour, Blizzard series in Pensacola, and other big races such as events at Bristol Motor Speedway, The Slinger Nationals, Red Bud 400, All American 400 and the 4th of July Shootout at Jennerstown Speedway in Pennsylvania
