Sharp and Karl Go Two for Two while White and Clem Get First Wins of 2016
Saturday night. May 7th, 2016, saw the Sandusky Speedway host the second event of the young 2016 racing season. Kenny Sharp would win the modified race with Jerry Karl winning the sportsman feature, imitating the opening night festivities. However, Michael White would pick up his first feature win of the season in the street stocks with Richard Clem picking up his first feature win of his young career in the hobby stocks.
The Milan Automotive Street Stock 15 lap feature would come up first with Macy Fox and Doug Cantley leading the field to the green. Fox would power by Cantley but Mike White would soon take the lead in his #51 Middle Ridge Car Clinic/JPI Collision Center sponsored machine. Fox would spin the opening night winner Mark Resor on lap two on the back straightaway, resulting in Cantley and Resor both having extensive damage.
The race would continue with Resor taking the runnerup position. Cantley would reclaim the runnerup position on lap ten and the race would end with White leading over Doug Cantley, Mark Resor, and Clay McClenathan.
The Wolfpack Sportsman division would be next with a twenty lap feature as Randy Wedell and Joe Borczuch led the field to green with Borczuch, Jeff Karl and Logan Cooper quickly filling in the top three positions. However, Jerry Karl was not to be denied as he methodically worked his way through the field, taking the lead at the halfway point and never looking back. He would go on to win over Borczuch, Cooper, Jeff Karl, Rich Clingan, Randy Wedell, and John Karl.
The Digital Yalo modified division would have its twenty-five lap feature event next with Tom Joy and Chris Hamilton leading the field to the green. Hamilton would take the lead but Kenny Sharp and Jason Wells were coming from the back of the pack. Sharp would take the lead on lap fourteen with Wells following him in the runnerup position by the five to go mark. Sharp, Wells, Hamilton, Joy, Logan Hamilton, Joey Wyckoff, Jeremie Wiggins, Steven Drew and Jason Drew would make up the finishing order for the 25 lap feature event.
