Driver Information

Craig VandeWettering was born April 29, 1984 into the local track legendary Gracyalny family. He has been involved in every aspect of racing his whole life. . Craig grew up watching his grandfather, Stan "The Man" Gracyalny, his uncle, Dan Gracyalny, aunt, Jessie VanRoy, uncle, Randy VanRoy, and stepdad, Chris LaRocque race several nights a week and fell in love with the sport just as his family did. Though his mother was not keen on the idea, Craig had a passion for cars and knew the track is where he belonged. Craig raced his first mechanic's race at the age of 12 at 141 Speedway in Jessie VanRoy's street stock. The two would team up years later to run super stock together at WIR.
Craig has raced several different series, at countless tracks-asphalt and dirt around the state of Wisconsin throughout his career. Though, figure 8 has been his true passion and a dream of his throughout childhood
Craig got his first car in 2001 where he was the rookie of the year in Pro 4's at Chilton Speedway. He won his first championship at WIR in 2003 in 4-cylinders as well as the Red White and Blue championship, before taking several years off to start his business then moving on to Figure 8 at WIR in 2007. In 2010 he won his first Red White and Blue Championship. He won his first track championship in 2012. After his first championships, and half the season off in 2013 after the birth of his daughter, he began to take control of the track, and won 5 more figure 8 track championships from 2014-2018 consecutively, as well as 5 more Red White and Blue championships from 2013-2018 in Figure 8. In 2017, Craig and Jessie also won the Red White and Blue Championship for super stocks.
In 2019, Craig took a leap of faith to live out a dream he had since he was a child and purchased an outlaw figure 8 car to race in Indiana and different tracks around the country. Craig made the 3 hour race starting field in each of the 4 years he ran, with his last start being the best at 11th in 2024. Craig finished in the top 20 in all four years as well. in 2023, after a race ending x hit as the race leader with 13 laps to go at Colorado National Speedway in 2022, Craig came back and got his redemption, winning the Painesville Buckeye National Outlaw Figure 8 Championship.

Outside of racing, Craig owns his own business, Bedliner Specialists in Freedom WI, specializing in spray-in bedliners, rustproofing and undercoating, protective coatings and vehicle accessories. He loves to play pool, watch his daughter's travel softball team, and spend time with his girlfriend, daughter, and 2 dogs.
