Hallstrom Gains Experience and Confidence Throughout Rookie Season

Inside Line Promotions – NORTHFIELD, Vt. (Oct. 31, 2018) – Evan Hallstrom focused the 2018 season on competing at his home track of Thunder Road International Speedbowl in a late model on a full-time basis as well as making a few select starts in a super late model.

Hallstrom gained respect and experience, and he earned his first career late model win during his rookie year.

“It was a fairly good year for us,” he said. “We started off the season good and had some struggles toward the end of the season so there were some high and low points for sure. We had some good runs and improved, swapped crew chiefs, overcame issues and raced with some tough competition. Going through all of those things as a driver and as a team is what builds you up to the champion-caliber level that everyone strives to reach.”

In his rookie year as a full-time late model driver at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., the Hallstrom Motorsports driver aimed to have a good points season as well. He competed on a weekly basis, earning his first career late model win along with three top fives and seven top 10s.

“In the beginning of the season at Thunder Road we were off to a pretty good start,” he said. “We picked up a couple of top-five and top-10 finishes right off the bat. Not only were we showing that we were a competitive team, we also earned respect from the guys we were racing with, which is huge and made for some great battles on the track.

“Getting that first win at my home track was pretty special. I’ve been going to Thunder Road since I was born basically. It’s always been a dream of mine to win there and to be able to accomplish that, it’s a dream come true. It means so much to me and I hope to pick up a few more wins in my career there.”

Hallstrom also made a handful of super late model starts throughout the season at both Thunder Road International Speedbowl and Oxford-Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. Although the results didn’t show the effort and hard work the team put in, Hallstrom saw those weekends as a learning experience.

“Being able to jump behind the wheel of the super late model this season was pretty cool, too,” he said. “There is definitely a lot of room to grow there with seat time and some additional work put in at the shop. I also have found that working on the mental and physical aspects can help me more in these longer races to be more competitive. We didn’t always have the results we wanted, but my team worked hard every race. They’re all diggin’ and working hard for me, so I just have to do my job behind the wheel and keeping them pumped up to get the best out of it.”

SEASON STATS –

19 races, 1 win, 4 top fives, 10 top 10s, 14 top 15s, 15 top 20s
