Ashton Winger
Runner-up outing in rain-delayed show at Senoia with Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series
Heading back to Senoia (Ga.) Raceway after the tour's original date was rained out, Ashton Winger unloaded the Mathews Motorsports No. 12 machine for Saturday's $15,000-to-win Independence Shootout.
After laying down the sixth-fastest lap in his qualifying group, a storm interrupted Winger's heat race while he was running second. Picking up where they left off on Sunday, Ashton took the checkered flag in his heat race and redrew the No. 3 for the 50-lap main event. Challenging for the lead several times, Winger just wasn't able to get to the top spot and settled for a runner-up finish behind Shane Clanton.
Ashton currently sits third in the HTSDS point standings.
