Steel Block Late Model Series victory for Crowl at Atomic Speedway
Levi Crowl visited a new track over the weekend and walked away with the big check.
Crowl and his No. 5 team traveled to Atomic Speedway (Chillicothe, Ohio) on Saturday to race with the Steel Block Late Model Series in a topless 23-car field at the Thomas Childress Jr./Brock Chaney Memorial. Crowl turned in the ninth-quickest time in qualifying on the 3/8-mile clay oval, then drove from third to first in his heat race. After the redraw, he started fifth in the 25-lap main event.
Crowl moved into the runner-up spot on Lap 14 of the feature race and took the lead with six circuits remaining. He never looked back and scored the victory by 1.392 seconds over Corey DeLancey. Matt Melvin rounded out the podium, while Lucas McDonald finished fourth and BJ Gregory came home fifth.
Crowl’s third feature win of the season was worth $1,700.
