Crowl takes on Steel Block Late Model foes at Eldora

Levi Crowl and his Wrenches & Wreckers No. 5 team checked another track off the bucket list when they visited famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) to compete with the Steel Block Late Model Series as part of the Dirt Track World Championship.

The event was set to kick off on Friday, but persistent rains throughout the weekend delayed the action. The inclement weather also created extremely challenging conditions for the 64 Steel Block Late Model competitors at the iconic high-banked, half-mile oval.

After qualifying 11th in his group, Crowl started his heat race from the fourth spot on Saturday. However, he folded the nose on the first lap and recorded a 15th-place finish.

The crew made repairs and Crowl returned for his B-Main, but he was collected in an accident early and came home 19th. As a result, he was unable to transfer to Sunday’s rain-delayed 25-lap, $5,000-to-win feature race.

With his season now wrapped up, Crowl won a total of three times in 2023, finished in the top five 13 times and scored 15 top-10s.
