Stevens finishes 6th at Batesville
Tyler Stevens towed his new Category 5 Race Car to Locust Grove, Arkansas, on Friday for the first night of the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Steve Rushin Memorial at Batesville Motor Speedway.
Stevens opened the evening by setting the quickest time in his qualifying group aboard his Keth Hammett Trucking & Construction LLC No. 2 Super Late Model, with his time around the 3/8-mile oval also second-best overall in the 40-car field.
He was slated to start from the pole in his heat race, but the car wouldn’t run due to a loose fuel line. Instead, Stevens began one of two B-Mains from the 11th position and stormed through the field to take the checkered flag.
He then began the 35-lap, $5,000-to-win feature from 17th and again climbed steadily forward to earn a sixth-place finish and the MD3 Five Star Bodies Hard Charger award.
Stevens did not participate in Saturday’s $5,000-to-win program at Batesville.
