Willard a part of MLRA Battle at the Beach
Brennon Willard followed the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) to Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Missouri) this weekend for the third annual MLRA Battle at the Beach.
Willard competed in both days of action at the 1/3-mile clay oval, starting on Friday, when the Lebanon, Missouri, driver finished seventh in his heat race. He then came home fifth in his B-Main, but utilized a provisional to put his Willard Asphalt No. 3 machine in the night’s $5,000-to-win, 30-lap main event.
Willard started from the 25th spot and finished 23rd in the feature race after being caught up in a wreck and unable to finish.
On the second day of the two-day show Willard finished eighth in his heat due to a flat right-rear tire. He finished sixth in his B-Main but transferred to the 40-lap finale paying $7,000 to the victor after taking advantage of another provisional.
Willard started Saturday's Battle at the Beach feature from the 24th spot but was unable to complete all the laps as the result of a tangle in the race’s late stages. He was scored in the 22nd position.
