Willard takes on LOLMDS and MLRA competitors during Show-Me 100 program
This weekend, Brennon Willard and his Midwest Sheet Metal No. 3 Dirt Late Model team entered three consecutive nights of racing at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. The crown-jewel event was sanctioned by both the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Midwest Racing Association (MLRA) and culminated with the $50,000-to win Show-Me 100 on Saturday evening.
Action kicked off at the 3/8-mile oval with the Cowboy Classic on Thursday, where Willard was among 59 drivers hoping to compete for the $6,000 winner’s share. Willard finished eighth in his heat and ninth in his B-Main, meaning the driver from Lebanon, Missouri, was unable to transfer to the night’s 45-lap feature.
On Friday, 57 cars were in the pit area for the $6,000-to-win Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson. Willard came home ninth in his heat and 12th in his “B,” ending his night in advance of the 40-lap main event.
Sixty Late Models were on the property on Saturday looking to take part in the 31st annual Show-Me 100. Willard finished ninth in one of three B-Mains that helped fill out the field for the 100-lap race, meaning he would have one final chance to race his way in through the Show-Me Challenge for non-qualifiers. Willard drove from 16th to 11th in the 20-lapper, but only the winner had the opportunity to advance or collect $2,500.
Willard now sits in the 14th spot in the MLRA standings.
