Williamson Making World of Outlaws Debut This Weekend in Mississippi and Louisiana

Inside Line Promotions – TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2021) – Garet Williamson will tackle his World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series debut this weekend.

The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver, who is heading into his second year as a full-time Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competitor, is adding select 410ci winged sprint car shows to his schedule in 2021 for the first time. The initial opportunity is this Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Saturday at The Rev in Monroe, La.

“It’s been a dream since I was a kid to race 410s and with the World of Outlaws,” he said. “We want to make the most of it and have fun. The goal is to make the show both nights and not tear anything up.”

Williamson opened his season last weekend when he made his debut at East Bay Raceway Park, which hosted the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.

“By the feature Friday night we got a lot better,” he said. “That’s a different surface that we hadn’t raced on with the sand and everything. The track was heavy and didn’t allow a lot of racing early, but it slicked off and gave us some good racing on Friday. Most importantly, we got some kinks out of the way. That’s why we race these shows before we head to the ASCS National Tour races.”

Williamson gained a position to finish third in a heat race on Thursday. A runner-up result in a B Main earned a transfer into the back of the main event. Williamson gained a few positions early, but the night ended with a DNF because of a mechanical problem.

“We weren’t terrible, but we weren’t much faster than people around us to pass,” he said. “Everyone was pretty even.”

Friday’s action began with Williamson finishing third in both a heat race and a B Main to again make the main event, which was a feat given the nearly 50 drivers in attendance. This time the A Main went a bit smoother and Williamson made the most of it, charging from 25th to 14th.

“The track was a little better,” he said. “In the B Main we threw something at it to see if it’d work. I think we were a lot better. Then I got the top rolling during the first part of the feature. Once it blew off we moved down and kept making up ground.”

The event finale rained out on Saturday.
