Inside Line Promotions – TAMPA, Fla. (March 8, 2021) – Jason Sides is heading to Mississippi and Louisiana this weekend.

Sides and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series are traveling to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., on Friday and The Rev in Monroe, La., on Saturday.

“I’ve won a 360 race in Columbus, but I’ve never been to Monroe,” he said. “It’s always exciting returning to a track where you’ve had success.”

Sides captured a USCS Series national event at Magnolia Motor Speedway in 2012.

He returned to World of Outlaws action last weekend following nearly a month off. The action began on Friday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., where Sides was hampered by a mechanical problem to start the night.

“We were decent for the start of hot laps and then all of a sudden it took a bad shake and blew up,” he said. “We pushed to the trailer and got the engine changed to get one lap at the end of qualifying. It wasn’t very good.”

Sides timed in 20th quickest. He gained a position to finish sixth in a heat race before closing the night with a 20th-place result in the feature.

“It wasn’t bad early, but the bottom went away a bit and I should have moved up quicker than I did,” he said. “I got freight trained on the top and then at that stage you’re a lap down and trying not to mess up anything for drivers racing toward the front.”

Saturday started out promising at East Bay Raceway Park, where Sides qualified fifth quickest. He won a heat race to make the dash and placed fifth in the race to line up on the inside of the third row for the A Main. Sides gained a position on the opening lap before he was involved in a crash on Lap 2.

“I thought we had a good shot at a top five,” he said. “We were a little loose and someone got into us, which spun us both around. After going to the back we were making progress and coming through there. The track went from the curb to slick back to wet. Below the slick was a sticky wetness. I was trying too hard. I ran in there so hard it started to come around. I stood on it to keep the car in the center of the track and when I did that it hit the wet stuff, flipped and slammed down on all four wheels. That blew the front end out of it.”

Sides had climbed just outside the top 15 when the mid-race incident occurred, which relegated him to the pits with a 21st-place result.
