Lawrence Earns Two Top 10s at King of the Wings Doubleheader

Inside Line Promotions – BYRAM, Miss. (April 17, 2017) – Zane Lawrence recorded a couple of top 10s during the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints King of the Wings event after making the trek to Jackson Motor Speedway last weekend.
Lawrence opened the doubleheader on Friday by starting on the outside of the second row in a heat race. He moved forward to finish second.
“The track was good and pretty racy,” he said. “There was some moisture on the bottom so we were rolling around there pretty good.”
That locked him into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 6 to start the main event on the outside of the third row. While battling for position, trouble ensued as Lawrence’s right rear tire started going flat. After pitting to change the flat tire, Lawrence restarted from the tail of the field and battled back to a ninth-place result.
“The right rear going flat was unfortunate,” he said. “There was a little hole in the tire so I must have ran over something on the track, but the race car was good and we were still able to salvage a top 10.”
On Saturday, Lawrence charged from sixth to second place in a heat race. For the second night in a row, he made the feature redraw and pulled the No. 6.
“The track was actually better and even more racy on Saturday,” he said. “The groove had moved up the track throughout the weekend so the high groove was pretty fast come time for the feature.”
After 25 laps around Jackson Motor Speedway, Lawrence ended seventh to earn his second top-10 finish of the weekend and sixth of the season.
Lawrence will be back in action with the NCRA Sprint Car Bandit Series this Saturday at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas.
