Lawrence Records Podium Finish at Battleground Speedway with ASCS Gulf South Region

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (July 26, 2017) – Zane Lawrence earned another podium finish last Saturday at Battleground Speedway with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

Lawrence opened the night by starting on the inside of the second row in a heat race. He advanced one position to finish second, which earned enough points for a spot in the feature redraw.

“The track in the heat races was kind of a one-groove track to start off with,” he said. “We didn’t have very much to work with, but ended up being able to gain a position and make the redraw.”

Lawrence pulled the No. 3 during the random redraw, which started him third in the main event.

“They ended up packing the track a little bit to widen out the racing groove and the support divisions widened it out even more, which helped,” he said. “We didn’t get a good start and ending up falling back a few positions early on, but we had a good enough car to work back up into the top three.”

Lawrence ended the feature event where he started – third. It marked his ninth top-five finish of the season.

The team will be back in action this weekend with the USAC Gulf Coast Midget Series on Friday at Boyd Speedway in Boyd, Texas, and Saturday at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas.
