White Leads Laps and Earns Runner-Up Result During USCS Event In Mississippi

Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBUS, Miss. (March 6, 2018) – Harli White led A Main laps and she tied her career-best feature finish last Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway during the opening round of a USCS Series doubleheader in Mississippi.
White started the night by finishing fifth in the dash and second in a heat race, which lined her up on the outside of the second row for the main event at the bullring in Hattiesburg.
“We were real close to winning,” she said. “I got the lead a couple of laps into the race on a restart. I led about half the race. Wayne (Johnson) was a little quicker than us. I was running the bottom in turns one and two because I wasn’t able to run the top lane and he was able to drive around us up there. We pretty much stayed the same distance apart for the rest of the race.”
White’s runner-up result was her first podium finish since finishing second in a race last August in Tennessee.
“There were a few Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour drivers there so at least we know we can run up front with those guys,” she said. “That’s a great confidence booster.”
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway, where White placed sixth in the dash before she won a heat race. That lined her up on the inside of the third row for the main event.
“We spent most of the race running in the top five, but we had a mechanical problem with about 10 laps remaining so we had to pull off the track,” she said.
White was credited with a 14th-place result. It was her final race before the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season begins later this month.
White is slated to drive a midget for Keith Kunz Motorsports this Saturday at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, Ill., during the Shamrock Classic with the USAC National Midget Series.
“They called and asked if I’d be willing to drive because Holly Shelton is hurt,” she said. “As a race car driver you hope for huge opportunities to come about. Keith Kunz Motorsports is at the top of the list. It’s an honor to be able to race for them, even if it is only one time.”
It will mark White’s debut at the track and her first midget race since running the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in January.
