Inside Line Promotions – LEXINGTON, Tenn. (May 3, 2018) – Derek Hagar tied his season-best result last Saturday at Lexington 104 Speedway, where he garnered a third-place finish during the USCS Series event.

The night began with Hagar advancing from fifth to fourth place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for the A Main.

“My car really came in the last quarter of the race and we got up to third,” he said. “I believe we were faster than the guys in front of us at the end. I’m not saying if we had a caution we would have won, but we would have been in the hunt. To pass good cars and get a podium finish was really nice.”

The third-place result was Hagar’s second podium finish and third top five of the season.

Last weekend began on Friday at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Ky., which hosted the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com. Hagar finished where he started – sixth – in a heat race before maneuvering from seventh to third place in the B Main on the challenging track.

“You had to go in there and run it through the ruts,” he said. “We were able to work our way forward to get a good transfer spot.”

Hagar started the A Main on the inside of the 10th row.

“I planned on just starting and parking, but as a race car driver it’s hard to do that,” he said. “I wasn’t really in harm’s way so I stayed out there and rode around, passed a couple of cars here and there. It was sure hard on the car. Turns three and four were pretty rough. Turns one and two were slick, but it had a big hole getting into turn one. If you didn’t miss it it was nasty. It ate up a couple of cars.”

Hagar drove a conservative race and he worked his way to a 12th-place result.
