Mallett Sweeps USCS Series Doubleheader in Alabama and Florida

Inside Line Promotions – MILTON, Fla. (May 22, 2018) – Jordon Mallett produced a pair of USCS Series feature victories last weekend to build his lead in the national championship standings to 93 points entering the grueling USCS Speedweek.

“It’s always the goal to win every time we get on the track,” he said. “Last weekend was a great one. We think we’re finding a lot more about what this particular car wants.”

Last weekend began on Friday at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, Ala., where Mallett advanced from third to second place in the dash and from fourth to second place in a heat race. He started the main event on the pole.

“Track position is everything at Flomaton,” he said. “I had a bad original start. I fell back to third on the back straightaway and then I got into second before we had a caution. We stalked the leader for about 20 laps before I made my move. I stayed close enough to capitalize and I made my move when we got into some lapped cars.

“We were right there and I was making sure the leader didn’t know we were as close as we were. I could tell he was getting a little snug. I made sure I didn’t put my nose up there until I knew I could capitalize. He drove in a little higher than I did to go around a lapped car. I shot straight below the lapped car.”

Mallett took the lead approximately two thirds through the main event en route to his second triumph of the season.

He backed up the performance the following night at Southern Raceway, where Mallett charged from fourth to win the dash before maneuvering from fifth to win a heat race. He started on the pole of the main event and capitalized for the second straight night.

“We had a caution around Lap 18,” he said. “My crew chief told me to pace myself. After the feature I found out we had half a track lead. I didn’t have any complaints with the car. Some nights you really have to kill the car to make a win happen. Both nights I was able to cruise and the car did its job.”

Mallett will take his back-to-back victories into the USCS Speedweek, which begins this weekend with races on Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss.; Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss.; Sunday at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss.; and Monday at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn. Teams will get a couple of days off before wrapping up Speedweek with races on May 31 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.; June 1 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.; and June 2 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

“It’s definitely a lot of work, but I enjoy it because I get to run so many nights in a row,” he said. “As a driver that’s always best. I love being able to run four nights in a row and then turn around and run three more nights. It helps me stay on top of my game.”
