Sunset Speedway Park would finally get a Northwest Wingless Tour event completed in 2014 on Saturday July 26th after several previous occasions were cancelled due to weather. Eleven entries from Oregon and Washington would be on hand to tackle the “Banks Bullring”.

Mark Herz from Sandy would seize the initial lead in his Herz Precision Parts/Wolverine Chassis #1 entry. Herz would lead for some time before being passed on lap eleven. Guy Weedman, from the central Oregon town of Moro, would get to the front and lead the rest of the distance to score his first career Northwest Wingless Tour victory and the Weedman Ranches #27W Maxim team.

The Pure Addiction Diesel/Habitat For Humanity/Auto Inter/Scott Raines Excavating #11X Maxim of Jake Gilman from Forest Grove was second followed by Mark Herz in third. The rest of the top five would be comprised of Vancouver, Washington’s Mike Romig in his Herz Precision Parts #22 Eagle in fourth while the Pro Tow Racing/Beaverton Automotive/Rabourn Performance Engines #50 Eagle of Aloha native Brad Rhodes was fifth.

Brad Rhodes would be fast time of the night and Mike Romig won the trophy dash. Mark Herz and Mill City’s Tony Parker, in the Parker Racing/Heinz Mechanical Inc./Al Ward Logging #15 entry, were the winners of the two heat races.

The Northwest Wingless Tour will be off for a couple of weeks before visiting Coos Bay Speedway on Saturday August 16th for their one and only visit to the coastal facility. For the latest information on the NWWT log on to wingless.nwextremeseries.com.
