Bowers Teams Up With Kouba Racing for the 2018 UMSS Season
Inside Line Promotions – HAM LAKE, Minn. (April 11, 2018) – Ryan Bowers has joined Kouba Racing as the new driver of the No. 5 winged sprint car.
“We’re going to be running the entire Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series schedule this year,” he said. “There’s about 20 races on the schedule and we’re looking forward to getting in a good number of races this season.”
Originally a part-time deal, the team later extended the offer to a full-season ride for Bowers, who noted it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
“I’m really excited to be running for the Kouba Family,” he said. “They have a long tradition of racing. In fact, this will be the 80th year that the Kouba Family will be racing. That’s a pretty awesome stat.”
Bowers will be teammates with Anna Hippie – formerly Kouba – as she will be running the Kouba Racing No. 16 non-wing sprint car.
“We’re kind of combining marketing partners for the season,” Bowers said. “I’ll have some new major partners that I haven’t worked with in the past so I’m looking forward to that. We’ll also have some companies I’ve worked with in the past that I appreciate sticking with me.”
Most of the races Bowers and the Kouba Racing team will attend will be in the Minneapolis area, while also catching some other events in the Upper Midwest.
Weather permitting, Bowers said his first race is scheduled for April 21 at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.
