Caho Cruises To Third Win At SCVR July 3

St. Croix Valley Raceway celebrated the nation’s birthday with a huge fireworks display to the delight of a capacity crowd. Doug Toepper celebrated his first career WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature win on a perfect night for racing and pyrotechnics. The Northern Vintage Stockcar Racers were on hand as well, with Mike Bjorklund and Steve Baker claiming the Vintage wins.

With low tire pressure denying him the chance for a win in the UMSS Traditional Sprint feature a week ago, Rob Caho Jr. left no doubt his #78 was the car to beat on Friday. An opening lap caution took out pole starter and reigning series champion Cam Shafer, moving Caho to the pole on attempt number two. On the second green, Caho quickly bolted in front of Kevin Bradwell and settled into his comfort zone – the high groove, pushing off the cushion. Caho immediately started to pull away, with all the action focused behind him between Bradwell, Rick Kobs, rookie James Giossi, Jimmy Kouba, Mike Mueller and Jake Kouba. After the opening lap mishap, the sprinters went green the rest of the way with Caho nabbing his third win of the season over Kobs, Bradwell, Giossi (with his best finish so far) and Mueller.
