“Tiffany Wyzard Motorsports Kicks Off 2014 In Style!”
After many months of anticipation, Tiffany and team kicked off their 2014 campaign in grand style! The team headed to the Jacksonville Speedway Friday for the Midwest Open Wheel Association Presented By Casey’s General Stores season opener, after last weekend’s event at the Lincoln Speedway was a washout.
Thirty of the best sprint cars in the Midwest signed in to do battle at Jacksonville, including 3-Time and defending series champion Jerrod Hull, as well as heavy hitters Kevin Swindell, Ian Madsen, Wayne Johnson, Brad Loyet and Cole Wood.
Tiffany drew the pole of heat three, starting next to Joey Moughan. At the drop of the green, Tiffany quickly shot to the lead and pulled away to a comfortable victory on a lightning fast Jacksonville track, leading green to checkered.
By winning her heat, Tiffany made the 6-lap trophy dash. She took the green from outside the front row and was running second to Wayne Johnson, until a late race bobble allowed Jerrod Hull to slip by for second. Tiffany crossed the stripe in third, setting her up for an inside second row starting position in the feature.
Twenty cars took the green for 25-lap feature event. As the field made it’s way through turn one, Jim Moughan spun and collected several cars, including Ben Wagoner who got upside down. This moved Kevin Swindell up to outside second row next to Tiffany for the restart. The two traded slide jobs for several laps, putting quite a show until Kevin got the best of her off turn four. Tiffany began to fade a bit, as the car was too tight for roughening racetrack. About the midpoint of the race, Cole Wood stopped on the backstretch, bringing out a caution. Tiffany restarted from the seventh position, but the race was quickly halted again, when a lapped car made contact with race leader Jerrod Hull and bounced up into a closing Kevin Swindell, who took a wild ride in turn four. Tiffany once again restarted from seventh, and had quite a battle with Korey Weyant, before Weyant found himself sitting backwards in turn three bringing out the race’s final caution. Jimmy Hurley slipped by Tiffany for seventh after Tiffany hit one of the holes and upset the car a bit. Tiffany’s car started to come in slowly in the later stages of the race, but ran out of time to run Hurley down, bringing her #5 home for an eighth place finish at the checkered flag.
