Nienhiser has High Hopes for Jacksonville!
Paul Nienhiser heads into championship weekend with the Midwest Open Wheel Association at Jacksonville Speedway with high hopes. Following a broken driveshaft during the "Sprint Mania" event at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL, Paul is happy with the momentum the team has. Running in sixth place after starting 13th, it was a disappointing end to a promising night.
"We've had really great speed ever since the middle of summer until now," Paul stated. "We really hit our stride around the time the All Stars came to the midwest in June, some of the results just don't show it." With three wins on the season, Jacksonville Speedway victory lane has been on the radar for a while. With the last two events at Jacksonville resulting in being the fastest qualifier, and the only other attempt being third quickest, Paul believes the speed is there.
"We've obviously had the speed all year long at Jacksonville, and honestly the last couple of years I thought we were good enough to get the job done. It's just been a combination of bad luck and me not getting the job done in the driver's seat at the end of the night as to why we haven't gotten a win there." Paul's last win at Jacksonville came in July of 2015. He has two top-five finishes in three starts at Jacksonville this year. With a stout field of cars expected and a great event planned this coming Friday and Saturday, the racing should be nothing short of spectacular at "America's Baddest Bullring."
Friday and Saturday's events, both at Jacksonville are scheduled to start racing at 7p.m.
