Statement regarding the new rules in place for 2016
As some have noticed the board majority has voted to rework the rules to a stock bore and stock stroke and will now match the other sanctions and tracks in our region. We realize that not everyone will agree and some have different agendas. Several mitigating factors clearly showed the majority of the board that this was in the best interest of the group moving forward. There are other important factors regarding a new track which also required these changes. We will fill everyone in on these exciting happening soon. But as it stands, this is the motor rule moving forward. For us to continue to have rules that are clearly outside of the regional norm, just does not make sense for growth or betterment of our racing. The biggest challenge we face from week to week are tech issues. This includes the money it takes, the time & personnel it takes, and more. We just do not have the capabilities for extensive tech it would take to control every little thing to keep 4 brands of motors perfectly “stock” as the group grows. The second and very important reason is our visitor request over the years to come and race. We are turning people away. This is very disappointing. Our rules have prevented many cars from competing with us. We are now in line with Sweet springs, the Iowa Micro sprints, Kam Raceway, BHMST & the Badger micros. We now have the ability to invite everyone in a region to race with us with no penalties for a very large show. All these groups allow very small inexpensive things that can help the motors perform on a more even playing field. They also address the other issues we have pointed out. Anyone that claims this will make motors cost $5000-$8000 is crazy. It will not. Unless you like wasting money. Our estimate is only 30% of the teams will spend under $1000 more than they did over their standard rebuild costs, If they even do it at all. Without the big holes you just can’t spend the big money and get big results….. this is proven. Many teams will do nothing more then what they did last year or the year before. Rebuilds or fresh motors with small mods will be sufficient. A stock motor will still compete against little simple mods just fine. They have already. We all know this. Many of these small inexpensive things were very hard for us to tech. It’s clear from the past tech infractions, people pushing the rules, visitors being turned away, bickering about big motors, money spent on tech, & the regional rules around us we just had to make the move. Many of you that have taken the time to travel and go visit tracks outside our area and learn very quickly our stock motors compete just fine against even large 1mm and 2mm engines. We can use Cedar lake for example. We were very competitive at these events. Its handling and set up that make or break the game. Not your motor bill. We look forward to more information to come as several key meetings are currently being planned. Including the end of the year banquet.
