Super Late Models Return to Ponderosa Speedway on August 22 for Red Clay Bash
JUNCTION CITY, KENTUCKY (August 5, 2025)—The ground-pounding Super Late Models return to “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” Ponderosa Speedway on Friday August 22 for the 6th Annual Red Clay Bash paying $5,000-to-win and $500-to-start. The event will be triple sanctioned by the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP, the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics and the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series.
Longtime dirt track racing promoter and former track operator Chris Tilley will be leasing the track for this event to bring in the long-awaited Super Late Models plus other exciting divisions for an action-packed night of dirt track racing.
Hall of Famer racer and all-time winningest Ponderosa Speedway competitor Dale Atwood of Liberty, Ky. will serve as Grand Marshall for the event. Atwood’s stellar career ended in the early 2000’s amassing over 200 victories.
Also in action will be the KDRA Super Stock Series presented by Todd Steel Buildings racing 20 laps for $1,500-to-win, the 604 Crate Late Models will race 20 laps for $1,200-to-win and the Crown Vics will also be racing 15 laps for $500-to-win.
The cars and stars of the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP along with the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics and the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series will bring the best drivers in the region to compete for the big prize money on August 22. Iron-Man Series stars Colten Burdette, Rusty Schlenk, Rod Conley, Rob Anderzack, Shane Bailey, Clint Keenan, Austin Lay will battle the Ultimate Heart of America competitors Blake Creech, Derek Fisher, Larry Martin Jr., Kenneth Howell, Daniel Shelton and Brad Rickels plus other regional competitors are expected to compete in this one night only event!
On Friday August 22, the pits will open at 3:00 pm, the grandstands will open at 4:00 pm, the drivers meeting will be 7:00 pm and hot laps will roll out afterwards. Adult general admission is $25 while kids 10-under are free. Adult pit passes will be $45, kids 6-10 will be $20 while children five and under are free. Lawn chairs only permitted on the top row of seating in the grandstand area.
The Super Late Model tire rule will be: Fronts & Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2 & NLMT 3, Right Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2, NLMT 3 & NLMT 4. The Super Late Model entry fee will be $100. The highest finishing Steel Block or CT525 engine in the Super Late Model feature will receive a $250 bonus. The driver must finish the race. Transponders for all divisions will be available for rent.
