Shebester Seeking to Defend Midget Round Up Win at Airport Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (May 10, 2017) – Defending POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series champion Steven Shebester will be tackling the 2nd annual Midget Round Up on May 27-28 at Airport Raceway.
Shebester claimed the finale during last season’s inaugural event at the bullring in Garden City, Kan., which was one of his four victories that led to the championship with the series.
“It was fun,” he said. “I remember stopping on a red. The fans were so excited to get to talk to me while it was under red flag conditions. They park their cars right around the outside of the track. I stopped by them and they started talking to me and telling me how I was doing.”
Shebester said he visited the oval several years ago during a micro sprint event that was rained out before making his debut in a midget at Airport Raceway last September.
“It’s shaped a lot like I-44 Riverside Speedway (in Oklahoma), which is my home track,” he said. “It’s pretty similar, but a little flatter. It’s a familiar style for me.”
Shebester is one of the many stars who will compete during the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series and the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association $2,000-to-win midget main event each night. The Colorado Lightning Sprints will race both nights as well as non-wing micro sprints, which will compete for the $1,000-to-win top prize each night.
The event festivities begin on May 26 when Jax Sports Grille in Garden City will host a Friday evening pre-race party.
The action at the track starts on May 27 when the front gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.
