Norton Raceway Park
Finley, Bigham, Highlight Week 3 Winners
For the third weekend in a row of racing, Norton Raceway Park was able to see some exciting action. Whether it was the intense battle in the Modified feature or seeing the first ever running of the Norton Raceway Park Drags, spectators and drivers were able to witness and be a part of the action. We want to thank our fans and everyone who supports the
Here are the race recaps for all our feature races this past weekend:
Bandoleros: Chloe Mazzagatti Three in a Row
The #87 Bandolero of Chloe Mazzagatti was able to display her dominance in the Bandolero field once again, making her way from the back of the field all the way to the front, demonstrating her veteran presence in the Bandolero class. She is looking to be the golden standard for the series this season, winning three feature races in a row.
Trophy Stock: Shawn Kaufman Steps In
The #17 Trophy Stock has been the fastest vehicle in the starter series the entire season. However, the primary driver, Noah Kaufman was injured, giving his father, Shawn, the opportunity to race. Shawn was able to work his way through the inverted lineup, passing cars and preserving the winning streak of the #17 machine.
Legends: Finley back in Victory Lane
Evan Finley was able to secure his spot in the Winner’s Circle after a podium finish the previous weekend. Having the fastest lap of the season so far in the feature races, the pilot of the #97 machine took the lead and never looked back. With a primarily clean race during all 25 laps, Evan displayed the sheer speed and potential his legend car has out on the front, making a statement he will be one of the drivers to look out for during the rest of the year.
Street Stocks: Collmar’s First Win
After two weeks of domination by the #88 of Dennis Wood, the fans of NRP were able to see a new face in victory lane: Cody Collmar. Collmar was the class of the group during the night, winning both the heat and feature after working his way through the field. The closely knitted street stock field was able to demonstrate intense racing, and the #32 of Collmar was able to come out on top.
Modifieds: Bigham is Back
The modified feature was able to show the largest field of the night, with sparks flying and tight racing. After a couple laps of close contact and hard racing, the field was able to get going for the closest race of the night. The #60 of Sam Bigham, the previous feature winner in the Modified division, was able to battle closely with drivers such as the #51 of Rick Elkins, and hard charger Bob Sibila Jr. Although the race was intense, Bigham was able to park his modified in Victory Lane for the second time this season.
Compacts: Custer Awarded Victory
The compact race was able to see a lot of action-packed racing throughout the entire field, with a large battle in the front pack with drivers such as Josh Huff and Jeremy Sallinger. However, it was shown that one of the fastest cars in the field, Will Custer, was a force to be reckoned with throughout the entire race. After driving through the field because of an earlier incident, Custer made it up to second at the checkered flag and was awarded the win after all of the cars went through tech.
A special thank you to our participants in the Parking Lot Drags, with the winner being the 2011 Audi S4 of Willie Meeks!
Thank you to everyone who has supported Norton Raceway Park thus far. We look forward to seeing everyone this Father’s Day Weekend for some exciting racing.
Our classes for the upcoming week will be: Bandoleros, Legends, Trophy Stocks, Street Stocks, Late Models, Compacts and for the first time, the CRS Trucks Series!
