Spring Valley MN - July 1, 2013: (Photo Courtesy of Buck Monson Photo) 127 cars checked into the back gate for the AgStar Financial Firecracker Special at Deer Creek Speedway. Once again the track crew had to work hard after an overnight soaker hit the speedway. The crew provided a good hard surface during the heat races and then reworked the track before the features to give the drivers the best racing surface of the season. Thanks to Mother Nature last week there was a little unfinished business as the final feature of the night was rained out.
The first feature of the night on the speedway was the makeup NAPA AutoCare USRA Modified feature. Nate Wasmund jumped out front on the initial start only to have the caution fly as Lucas Schott, Bob Timm, Brad Waits, Jason Schlangen, Darwyn Karau and Brandon Davis all involved in a pileup in turn two. On the restart Jason Cummins took advantage of the yellow to jump out to the early lead. روليت كازينو Wasmund sat in second with Dan Bohr in third. Brad Waits and Steve Wetzstein battled for fourth. Bohr started to challenge Wasmund for the second spot as Wasmund suddenly slowed with front end problems. On the restart Cummins blasted out front again while Wetzstein and Waits still raced for the third spot behind Bohr. Tommy Myer and Mike Sorensen raced for the fifth spot. With nine completed Josh Angst moved up to race with Myer and Sorensen for the fifth spot. Cummins pulled out to a straight away lead by lap fifteen while Waits and Wetzstein still dueled for third. On lap eighteen Wetzstein finally took over the third spot while Myer rounded out the top five. Cummins cruised home to a half a lap lead over Bohr, Wetzstein, Waits and Myer.
The first feature of the night for the regular show saw the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds pull onto a freshly reworked, tacky and ultra-smooth track and it showed as they put on one of their best features in a long time. Bill Stettner took the early lead with Don Schaefer in second. As they came to finish lap one Greg Pfeifer Jr. found the fast line and flew by into the lead. A caution flew as the cars entered turn three. On the restart Pfeifer Jr. bolted out front with Jared Boumeester in second. Stettner, Cory Crapser and Jason Born were three wide for third. On lap four Boumeester got crossed up slowing Crapser and allowing Born and Dustin Scott now to battle for third. Boumeester got quickly up to speed and rejoined the battle for third. Another caution on lap five bunched the field back up and on the restart Pfeifer JR. led with Born and Boumeester racing for second. Crapser and Scott were side by side for fourth right behind them. Boumeester moved up to battle with Pfeifer Jr. for the lead. Boumeester took the lead on lap eight as another caution flew. Boumeester led on the restart while Born spun into the infield in turn two ending his good run. With twelve down Scott and Pfeifer Jr. were side by side for second with Crapser right behind them. On the next lap Scott took over second while Crapser moved past Pfeifer Jr. for the third spot. Another caution on lap fourteen saw Crapser driver around Boumeester on the restart to take the top spot. Scott and Boumeester battled for the second spot for the remaining circuits with Crapser taking home the win. Boumeester held on for second ahead of Scott, Pfeifer Jr., and Don Schaefer. Scott and Boumeester took home heat wins.
The SixTwo Graphics WISSOTA Street Stocks put on another great Street Dance on the speedway. Kyle King took the early lead with Troy Voth in second. Andrew Lokenvitz pressured Voth for second early on while Danny Hanson and Mike Blowers battled for fourth. The battle for fourth was only the beginning of the battle for these two thought. Voth took over the lead on lap three while Blowers, Hanson and Lokenvitz now battled for third behind King. A caution flew as Voth suddenly slowed in the lead with a front flat tire. On the lap eight restart Blowers and Hanson moved out front as they raced side by side for the lead. Hanson was given the edge at the line. These two stayed side by side for the next five laps with Hanson holding the slight edge at the line each lap. Shaun Mann moved past King for third on lap thirteen. Blowers took a slight lead on lap fourteen with Hanson leading lap fifteen. Blowers led the white flag lap with Hanson leading by .058 seconds at the line as the checkers flew. What a great race by these two as they ran most of the eighteen lap feature event side by side and never once touched. Mann came home third followed by King and Fred Prudoehl. Blowers and Danny Richards won the heat races.
The Left Lane Transport USRA B-Modifieds pulled onto the track next and put on an entertaining show as well. Jacob Bleess got the good draw and started on the pole and led lap one while Kylie Kath and Parker Hale raced for the second spot early on. The field reset on a lap three caution with Kath taking the lead. Hale and Bleess raced for second while Cole Queensland moved into fourth. Bleess took over the second spot and then passed Kath for the lead on lap four. Anther restart on lap five saw Bleess leading while Queensland and Kath battled for second. Queensland took over the second spot and set sail on Bleess up front. With eight down Queensland got a good run and took the lead from Bleess just as the caution flew over the speedway again. Bleess led on the restart with Queensland in second just ahead on Brian Mahlstedt. Erik Kanz and Ben Moudry raced for the fourth spot. As the checkers flew over the speedway Bleess held on for the win over Queensland, Mahlstadt, Moudry and Kanz.
Brandon Duellman has been looking strong the last couple weeks in the Wagner Trucking WISSOTA Super Stock division. Duellman led at the drop of the green with Jeff Brauer quickly moving up into second on the outside of the speedway. Brauer moved under Duellman on lap two as Bill Clemens and Josh Bartel raced for fourth behind Dave Solum. Clemens took over fourth and then on lap four battled with Solum for the third spot. The two made contact bringing out the caution. On the restart Brauer charged out front with Clemens in second. Kelly Anderson got under Duellman for the third spot. On the next laps Tommy Richards moved past Duellman for the fourth spot. Richards moved past Anderson on lap eight for the third spot and then on lap thirteen as Clemens pushed in three Richards took over the second spot. There was no catching Brauer up front though as he cruised home to take the checkers over Richards, Clemens, Anderson and Duellman. Heat races were won by Richards and Brauer.
Brad Waits led the high powered NAPA AutoCare USRA Modifieds to the green flag with Josh Angst close behind in second. bwin sport Lucas Schott was close behind in third. Schott moved up to race with Angst as the two split Waits to race for the lead. Schott took control of the race on lap three while Mike Sorensen moved past Waits for third. A restart on lap five saw Schott leading, Sorensen now into second with Angst and Brandon Davis racing for third. With seven down Davis took over third. On lap eleven Davis worked under Sorensen for the second spot. لعب قمار على النت A restart on lap twelve saw Davis power outside of Schott for the lead. Tommy Myer and Sorensen were racing for third.. Myer took the spot on lap fourteen and then on lap seventeen pulled alongside of Schott for the second spot. Myer, Schott, Cummins and Sorensen rounded out the top five. Steve Wetzstein, Waits, Schott and Greg Jensen took home the heat race action.
The final race of the night was the 40 lap Blaine Brothers Towing WISSOTA Late Model Feature event. Mike Prochnow jumped out to the early lead from his front row starting spot. John Kaanta and Zack Johnson raced for second with Kaanta taking the spot on lap two. Jake Redetzke and Lance Matthees rounded out the top five early on. Justin Sass pressured Matthees for the fifth spot on lap nine as Kaanta closed on Prochnow up front. A restart on lap thirteen saw Prochnow leading. Kaanta was in second while Matthees moved past Johnson for the third spot. Five laps later another caution flew with Johnson taking back the third spot.  Redetzke moved under Matthees for the fourth spot as the laps started to wind down. On lap twenty seven Kaanta put heavy pressure on Prochnow for the lead and took over the top spot on lap twenty nine. Kaanta slowly pulled away from Prochnow to take home the win. Prochnow, Johnson, Redetzke and Matthees rounded out the top five. Heat race action went to Prochnow, Matthees and Kaanta.
