Championship Battles Come Down to Wire

SPRING VALLEY, MN - August 25, 2013:  (Photos courtesy of Gulbranson Photo) A very nice crowd and 110 race cars checked into Deer Creek Speedway on this final night of track points. With titles up for grabs in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Super Stocks and USRA modified. pour on ivermectin for horses
The first title and the first feature to hit the track was the SixTwo Graphics WISSOTA Street Stock. Mike Blowers and Danny Richards were locked in a close battle coming into the night. Bernie Adams jumped out to the early lead with Nick Schwebach and Mike Blowers side by side for second. Schwebach held onto the second spot while Troy Voth sat in third early on. With three down Danny Richards moved into the fifth spot. Kory Adams moved up to race with Richards for fifth on lap five and on laps six took the spot away from Richards. Richards started to slow on lap seven and started to drop back through the field. Voth started to pressure Blowers on lap ten for the third spot while Bernie Adams continued to lead up front. Schwebach had caught B. Adams up front and was all over his bumper on lap thirteen until misfortune hit him as he slowed drastically and pulled off the track. Blowers tried to get a run on Adams for the lead up front but Adams was too strong on this night and took home the checkers for his first ever career feature win at Deer Creek Speedway. Blowers, Voth, Shaun Mann and Kory Adams wound out the top five with Danny Hanson and Richards winning heat races earlier. Richards finished the race in the ninth spot after limping the final ten circuits hoping for others to drop out. Although Richards gave it a valiant effort Blowers took home the title with a ten point lead over Richards. ivermectin tablets side effects
Heading into the final night of the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds Dustin Scott was pretty much locked in as the track champion. But crazy things happen, and tonight was that night. Ryan Siegle jumped out front of the feature with Jesse Hernandez in second. Jeff Born sat in third early with Jared Boumeester and Jason Born rounding out the top five. Boumeester moved past Jeff Born for the third spot on lap three while Dustin Scott worked into the top five. Boumeester started to pressure Siegle for the lead on lap six while Scott worked on Jason Born for the fourth spot. Boumeester took the spot on lap seven and on lap nine Jason and Jeff Born were battling for third with Scott directly behind them. A lap later Scott moved past Jason Born for the fourth spot as a caution flew. On the restart Boumeester led, Scott, Siegle and Jeff Born were three wide for second. Scott took over the second spot on lap fourteen as another caution flew. On the restart Boumeester led, Scott was in second and Jeff Born in third. Siegle and Jason Born battled hard for fourth as the white came out, they made contact with Born spinning to the infield bringing out the caution again. With a g/w/c dash now set Boumeester led the field into one. Scott powered by and slid up in front of Boumeester in two. Boumeester returned the slider and powered by Scott in three. As the white flew they were side by side at the line. Boumeester held through turn two and entering turn three Scott pulled another slide job with Boumeester cutting back down for the race to the checkers. They crossed the line side by side with Scott taking home the win and the title. However at the tech area another driver claimed Scott's motor. Scott refused the claim losing all WISSOTA Track and National points and the track championship. So Jared Boumeester is crowned the 2013 Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified track champion.
After the heat race action in the Wagner Trucking WISSOTA Super Stock division Jeff Brauer and Kelly Anderson were tied for the top spot with the feature event to decide the track champion. Dan Gullikson jumped out front and was unchallenged for the win but the action further back was hot and heavy. Brauer and Anderson lined up side by side in the fourth row. Brauer quickly moved up to second around the bottom of the speedway with Anderson taking third on lap two. A caution with four down saw Gullikson lead on the restart, Brauer and Anderson raced around to turn four side by side until Anderson took control of the second spot. With six laps completed Tommy Richards took over the fifth spot. Another caution flew on lap eight and on the restart Gullikson led with Brauer getting the upper hand and moving into the second spot ahead of Anderson. Richards ran in fourth with Kevin Hager having a nice run and cracking the top five. Gullikson kept pulling away with Brauer in second and Anderson looking for way past the second place machine. With the white flag waving Anderson got a run to the white and pulled alongside of Brauer into one and two. They raced side by side down the back stretch and then out of four the two made heavy contact with Brauer keeping his momentum up just enough to hold onto the second spot as they crossed the line. Brauer took home the track championship by 1 point over Anderson. The two raced hard all year long and everyone knew they were both going to race hard for that title. Congrats to Jeff Brauer on the hard fought win and to Anderson on a hard fought battle they both kept the fans on the edge throughout the year.
The next race on the track was the feature event for the Left Lane Transport USRA B-Modifieds. Jacob Bleess basically needed to show up and race the A feature to take home the track title. On the front row a couple young and upcoming drivers were paired up. Kylie Kath and Dustin Sorensen raced through one and two locked in a battle for the lead. Kath took the lead as a caution flew on lap two. On the restart Kath led with Sorensen in second. Al Wagner sat in third with Ben Moudry in fourth. Another caution flew on lap six bunching up the field. Kath led on the restart with Moudry putting pressure on him for the lead with Sorensen in third. Mark Motl sat in fourth with Cole Queensland and Erik Kanz battling for fifth. With eight down Sorensen pulled back up alongside of Moudry to retake second while Jacob Bleess joined in the battle for fifth. With ten down Motl pulled alongside of Moudry to race for the third spot as Queensland gained control of the fifth spot. Kath stayed out front to take home the win with Sorensen in second, Moudry, Motl and Queensland rounded out the top five. Jacob Bleess repeated as the 2013 track champion in the division.
Mike Prochnow pretty much had the track title wrapped up for the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model division with Kyle Jumbeck having an outside chance of overthrowing him. Nate Beyenhof jumped out to the early lead with Lucas Peterson in second. Jumbeck quickly moved past Peterson for second while Robby Bunkelman moved up to race Peterson for third. merck ivermectin A caution with four down saw Beyenhof leading with Bunkelman moving past Jumbeck for the second spot. Mike Prochnow and Justin Sass rounded out the top five early. On lap nine Jumbeck retook the second spot with Prochnow in tow moving into the third spot, Sass and Bunkelman than battled for the fourth spot. ON lap thirteen Prochnow and Jumbeck started to race hard for the second spot. A final caution flew on lap seventeen and on the restart Beyenhof led with Prochnow taking over second. Beyenhof cruised home for the win with Prochnow, Jumbeck, Bunkelman and Sass rounding out the top five. Prochnow took home the track championship his fourth straight championship setting a record at the speedway being the first driver to take home four straight. Prochnow won by twenty points over Beyenhof and Jumbeck who tied for the second spot on the year end list.
Jason Cummins and Brandon Davis came into the event close in points for the NAPA AutoCare USRA Modified division. Bob Timm and Joel Alberts raced side by side for the lead with Alberts taking over the top spot early on. With two down Davis moved under Timm to take over the second spot while Mike Sorensen cracked the top five. With five down Sorensen had worked to third while Jason Cummins had worked past Steve Wetzstein to take over the fourth spot. Up front Davis was working on Alberts for the lead. On lap seven Davis took over the top spot. Sorensen started to pressure Alberts on lap twelve for the second spot. On lap fourteen the Davis machine spun in front of the field bringing out the caution. Davis exited the track with a flat LR tire. On the restart Alberts led the pack with Sorensen and Cummins battling for second. Sorensen and Cummins than moved under Alberts for the lead, on lap sixteen as they raced three wide. Sorensen gained control of the lead while Cummins moved into the second spot. Wetzstein and Timm had a great battle for fourth as the laps wound down. At the finish it was Sorensen with the lead. Cummins, Alberts, Wetzstein and Timm rounded out the top five. Sorensen's win put his total wins at the speedway at 50 wins. This is the second most amount of wins by any driver in the history of the speedway. Sorensen commented with his son getting in behind the B-Modified this year and really looking good as the season wore on he may be handing the racing reigns over and stepping back from the driving. We will see someone behind the wheel of the 19 machine next year. Will it be Mike or Dustin or both? Jason Cummins took home the Track Championship by 37 points over Davis. This was Cummins fourth championship in the class and fifth overall at the speedway.
Congrats to all of the track champions and thanks to all the drivers who supported us throughout the 2013 racing season. We look forward to seeing most of you at the upcoming special events and at the banquet in November.
