McDowell invited to Intercontinental Classic at Eldora

With the 50th annual World 100 getting postponed to 2021, Dale McDowell was one of 48 Late Models invited to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday evening to take part in the Intercontinental Classic. Holding his spot for all 10 laps of his heat, McDowell recorded a seventh place outing, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. The following night for another $10,000-to-win preliminary feature, Dale grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Clawing forward three spots in the 30-lap affair, McDowell recorded a 13th place finish.

With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for the heat races on Saturday, McDowell started the night off with a heat race victory from the pole, locking him into the fourth-starting position for the $50,000-to-win Intercontinental Classic A-Main. After running in a podium spot for the first 50 laps, McDowell had mechanical issues on a lap-59 restart that prevented his car from firing. He salvaged a 17th place outing in the 67-lap affair.
