JEGS Becomes Presenting Sponsor of 46th Annual Snowball Derby

Officials from Pensacola, Florida's Five Flags Speedway and JEGS.com, the leading high-performance auto parts retailer, announce today a partnership for JEGS to become the presenting sponsor of the 46th Annual Snowball Derby.  With this announcement, Five Flags officials are boosting the purse for both the 46th Annual Snowball Derby presented by JEGS on Sunday, December 8 as well as the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 on Saturday, December 7.
 
The starting pay for the Snowball Derby is boosted from $1,250 to $1,500 and from $400 to $500 for the Snowflake 100.  Additional purse boosts will be distributed through the back half of the field in both events.  In addition, JEGS Laps will continue for a third-straight year and will pay $10 to the leader of each lap in the Snowball Derby and the Snowflake 100.
 
"John (Coughlin) and the entire JEGS organization have jumped into not just the Snowball Derby with both feet, but the entire short track industry," said Five Flags General Manager Tim Bryant.  "We're extremely proud to be associated with JEGS and to have them as the presenting sponsor of this year's Snowball Derby.
 
"We wanted their sponsorship to benefit the racers as best we could.  We  know this is an expensive event to compete in.  We wanted to spread out the sponsorship money to positively affect the racers that make the Snowball Derby weekend the spectacle that it has been for 46 years."
 
JEGS, which offers new high performance auto parts and discount auto parts via a mail-order catalog and the comprehensive JEGS.com website, has upped its support of the Snowball Derby in an extension of its commitment to the asphalt oval track racing community.
 
"We're definitely excited to support the Snowball Derby and Five Flags Speedway," said John Coughlin, co-owner of JEGS.  "Five Flags is definitely one of our favorite racetracks to go to and the Snowball Derby is one of our favorite races.  That race is like the Daytona 500 of short track racing.  Between the great racing, the camping, the events throughout the town surrounding the event, it doesn't get much bigger for the racers or the fans.
 
"Tim and I talked and he has such a nice family and the track is one of the best in the country.  There are a lot of tracks that we go to every year, but this one is probably the biggest event.  It's the Super Bowl of Late Model racing and we're proud to be a part of it."

The 46th Annual Snowball Derby presented by JEGS weekend kicks off on Wednesday, December 4 with the Cat Country / WEAR TV 3 Green Flag Party at Five Flags Speedway.  On-track action begins Thursday, December 5 with practice for the Snowball Derby Super Late Models and the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Models as well as feature action for the Five Flags Butler U-Pull-It Bomber and Beef-O-Brady's Sportsman divisions.
 
Friday, December 6th is WXBM 103.7 Pole Night for the Snowball Derby cars as drivers try to lock themselves into Sunday's starting field.  More practice for all Late Model cars and feature events for the track's Super Stock and Modified divisions.
 
Saturday holds qualifying and the main event for the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 as well as the first-ever appearance of the Pro Truck division during Snowball Derby weekend.
 
It all leads up to the most prestigious asphalt short track race in the country, the 46th Annual Snowball Derby presented by JEGS on Sunday, December 8.  The Snowball Derby will pay $22,500 to the winner, plus available bonuses.
