3 Double Headers for Pro Lates in 2018
Gulf Coast Triple Doubles for Pro Late Models
Five Flags Speedway officials announced today, in conjunction with the new management of Mobile International Speedway, three dates on the 2018 racing schedule that will comprise the Gulf Coast Triple Doubles for Pro Late Models. The three doubleheader weekends will consist of 100 Lap races on Friday Night at Five Flags, then move 80 miles west to Mobile for the same event on Saturday Night. Each night will pay $3000 to the winner and additionally, there will be $500 in Gulf Coast Bonus Bucks paid to the driver with the best two night average finish.
The first of the three doubleheaders will be on March 30 & 31, while Race #2 will be on July 6th & 7th. The finale is scheduled for August 17 & 18th. “As a Mobile guy, certainly I’m excited to see MIS back to a fulltime schedule,� stated Ryan Paul, a top competitor on the Gulf Coast Pro Late Model scene last year. By virtue of a new affiliation with Jacksonville based car owner Larry Blount, Paul is excited about what’s ahead for 2018. “ Larry and I are determined to make our mark in the Allen Turner Series at Five Flags, and with my personal car sitting in the shop ready if we need it, the doubleheaders fit right into our wheelhouse.�
Five Flags will finish the Pro Late Model season with a Championship event on September 22nd. “We’re excited to get things going at MIS� stated track manager Kody Lyons. “Teaming up with Five Flags for these Pro Late Model events should insure strong car counts and that is what we’re hoping to deliver to our fans.�
Mobile will be hosting one Super Late Model event in 2018, and it will be a big one, being the Mobile 300 Southern Super Series Season Championship race on October 26 – 28.
