Weather wins out, Snowflake 100, Pro Trucks & Mods moved to Sunday
The Allen Turner Snowflake 100 will need to wait an additional day to be completed. Five Flags Speedway officials announced Wednesday evening that the race has been postponed to Sunday, December 9 due to an unfavorable weather forecast.
The schedule for the rescheduled event includes the 100-lap Pro Late Model race, the Modifieds of Mayhem season finale and a 50-lap Pro Truck race.
Originally scheduled to serve as a precursor to the 51st Annual Snowball Derby, the race was previously postponed to Saturday, December 8. However, the high probability of rain has forced officials to move the event to Sunday.
“We try to be considerate of everybody’s time and effort. With a terrible weather forecast for Saturday, we believe it is in the best interest of our racers and fans to hold the race on Sunday, said Five Flags Speedway promoter Tim Bryant. “The weather forecasters were right on the mark with their forecast last weekend, so there’s no reason to doubt them this weekend. With good weather coming into the Pensacola area on Sunday, we are looking forward to a great event with all three divisions.
Pits will open at 8 a.m. on Sunday afternoon, with a drivers’ meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. That will lead into a 15-minute practice session for the Modifieds of Mayhem, who already qualified for their race last Friday before rain showers postponed that night’s race.
Pro Late Models competing in the Snowflake 100 will have a 30-minute practice session beginning at 12:15 p.m.
Pro Trucks, a division which didn’t even make it onto the property last weekend due to the rain, will have 45 minutes of practice beginning at 12:45 p.m.
The first feature of the day will get underway at 2 p.m. with the 75-lap season finale for the Modifieds of Mayhem.
Following the conclusion of the Modified race, Pro Late Models will hit the track for Snowflake 100 qualifying, with their last chance qualifier to follow.
Pro Truck qualifying will be next up on the schedule before the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 takes the green flag.
The 50-lap Pro Truck feature will end the day and put a bow on the 51st Annual Snowball Derby activities at Five Flags Speedway.
Those who can’t make it to Five Flags Speedway for the rescheduled event will be able to watch all the action via a pay-per-view broadcast on Speed51.com.
Race fans who originally purchased a five-day video ticket, a video ticket for last Friday’s Modified race or a video ticket for the Snowflake 100 will be able to watch the rescheduled event.
If you haven’t purchased a live video ticket for Sunday’s event, you can do so now for $24.99 by clicking here.
