Freeman Embarking Upon Texas Tripleheader This Weekend
Inside Line Promotions – LONGVIEW, Texas (Aug. 25, 2014) – Cody Freeman is ready to return to competition this weekend following a week of mourning with his family.
Freeman elected to take last weekend off from micro sprint action after the passing of his great-grandmother.
“We spent time together as a family,” he said.
The team will kick off a tripleheader this Friday at Heart O’Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, where Freeman finished eighth during his lone appearance last season.
“We’re looking forward to getting back in the car and back in what we know,” he said. “We know we’re getting closer and working toward our first win every day. We’re so close we can taste it. We haven’t quite hit on it, but we’ve gotten close.”
Freeman will then tackle Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, on Saturday. He earned six top fives at the track last year and has finished in the top six during all three races there this season.
“We’re confident at Gator Motorplex,” he said. “We haven’t been there as many times this year. Our biggest deal with going back to Gator and going back to Gulf Coast Speedway is it will allow us to measure any type of gains that we’ve made.”
The weekend concludes on Sunday at Gulf Coast Speedway in Alvin, Texas. Freeman has recorded three podium finishes in four races there this year.
“It’s a bold prediction, but we’d almost be disappointed if we didn’t finish in the top five all three nights,” he said.
