Booze Scores Last Lap LMS Thriller at Hagerstown
By Buddy Long
For several events this season, Brian Booze has been on the verge of a Late Model Sportsman win at Hagerstown Speedway. Benefitting from a pair of late race cautions, the Greencastle, Pennsylvania veteran put himself in prime position for just that, sliding underneath Justin Weaver in the final turn of the last lap, scoring his first of the season, thus becoming the eighth different winner for the season at Hagerstown. Weaver rode home second in Booze’s tire tracks, with Jimmy Jesmer Jr, Codey Breeden, and Scott Palmer completing the top five. Heats for the 22 cars on hand went to Breeden, Jesmer, and Cody Lear.
The 22 lap event for the Crate Late Models was also a thriller with Winchester’s Davin Kaiser becoming the first repeat winner of the season. Starting sixth, Kaiser endured an early intense three way battle with points leader Cuyler Upperman and Noah Brunell. Kaiser eventually wrestled the lead from the duo, cruising to his second win of the season. Jacob Burdette made a late race charge to finish second, with Isaiah Gochenour, Brunell, and Travis Campbell completing the top five. Heats for the 20 car field went to Kaiser and Brunell.
Due to a rainout for their class the previous week, the Semi Late division ran double events with points leader Steve Kent kicking off the night, taking the 15 lap makeup, thus claiming his 3rd win of the season. In the nightcap, Bryan Kerns, involved in a year long points battle with Kent, won an early race battle with Shane McQuay in securing his second win of the season. Kent also got by McQuay late in the event to claim second on the night, with McQuay, Dillon Wilson, and Isaiah Miller rounding out the top five. Heats went to Kerns and Wilson.
The 15 lap finale for the Pure Stocks also provided a race long side by side battle between Evan Faust and Nathaniel Younker, with Faust eventually wrestling the top spot away, scoring his second win of 2025. Younker rode home second, followed by Keith Reed, Brandon Churchey, and Tyler Fisher. Heats went to Faust and Nick Fogle.
