Championship Night At The Hummer
Championship night started off with bang with the opening ceremony and the playing of the National Anthem by guitar player Anthony Schettler. Then the Extrusion Inc. Midwest Mods hit the track. There were only 15 laps and 16 points separating Matthew Kay and Blake Sutton. Sutton in the 99JR got out to an early lead. But "The Real" Tyler Davis in the 01JR had other plans as he drove the wheels off the 01JR and worked his way through the field to pick up the win for the night. Davis' big win landed him 3rd place in the points championship. Matthew Kay in the 16 car came in 2nd in the A Feature but brought home the points champion crown for the season. Finishing 3rd in the A Feature was Blake Sutton in the 99JR but took home 2nd in the points championship.
The Home Savings Bank Factory Stocks championship was decided when the 7 of Dallas Joyce signed in for the night. The A Feature was interesting because Joyce DNS so the win was up for grabs. Taking the checkered flag was Jay Lamons in the 9 car. But after further tech inspection, the 9 was DQ'd leaving the 10G of Grant Reeves on the podium. Coming in 2nd was the 66 of Jason Thurman. And 3rd went to the 3 of Derrek Wilson. Fourth went to the 17 of Tevyn James. And rounding out your top five, was the 87 of Kenny Schettler (who also took 2nd in the points championship).
Rays Metal Depot USRA B Mods A Feature winner was the 5 of Reece Solander. Coming in 2nd was your points champion in the X2 car of Brian Bolin. Third went to the 22 of Brian McGowen. Bringing home 4th was the 28 of Andy Bryant. Finishing 5th was the 21 of Jacob Ellison, who started 14th.
ARMI Contracting USRA Modifieds saw a wild race as the track became very touching in turned three and four. And showing how touchy it was, the driver out of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Tyler Wolff (4W), who races full time with the USMTS, got upside down. Wolff came out unscathed. And also we saw Paden Phillips, who was having electrical problems in his 127 car, start the A Feature in his brother's USRA B Mod. Phillips needed to start the race in order to have a chance at points championship. At the end of the A Feature, after all the chips fell, even though Phillips didn't pick up the "W", he was able to lock in the championship for points. The driver bringing home the win in the A Feature was the 65 of Tyler Davis. Second place was the 75 of Tad Davis. Coming in 3rd in the 99T of TJ Tolan, who also finished 2nd in the points championship. Fourth went to 7G of Gabe Hodges. And rounding out the top 5 was the 42 of Darren Moses.
Closing out the night was the Wilson's Auto and Fabrication Freedom 50 for our USRA Tuners. It was going to be a tough feat running 50 laps but the 17H of Clint Haigler, who chose to start in the back of the pack, ended up picking up the win for the A Feature. Haigler finished 3rd in the points championship. Bringing home 2nd was the 21S of Jesse Stair. The 42 of Wyatt Burress came in 3rd. Fourth went to the 16W of Carlyle Ward. Coming in 5th was the 15 ofTravis Bockover, who also took 2nd in the points championship. The points champion for the USRA Tuners was the 4T of Trenton Wilson, who did not finished the A Feature.
