Lernerville Speedway
Rest in Peace Linda Fennell
Sarver, PA (December 1, 2018) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of the Lernerville Speedway family; longtime media member, employee, track official and ultimately Hall of Famer Linda Fennell. Linda passed away on Friday, November 30 after a long battle with a variety of medical issues. We ask that you pray for Lindas immediate family, her dear friends Chris Schaeffer and Helen Bauman, as well as the entire Lernerville Speedway family that loved and will miss her dearly.
Of her many titles at Lernerville Speedway, to her core, Linda was first and foremost a race fan. She loved Lernerville Speedway and the people of the racing community. And while she loved all of local racing, Lernerville was her home and the Late Models were her favorite. She was proud and thrilled to part of the planning and implementation of the Inaugural Firecracker 100 featuring the World of Outlaws Late Model Series back in 2007.
Linda made her mark on local racing scene through her publication œMotorsports World?; a weekly magazine that covered not only Lernerville Speedway, but tracks throughout the region. Each week, Linda and her then husband Dan Fennell would update points, collect and print columns and photos that brought the local racing community together in one amazing publication. She also ran a photo booth for many years, selling small prints, photo buttons, 8X10s and even larger print posters by request. Throughout her career she also wrote columns for other publications and hosted local racing radio shows.
Lindas dream job was fulfilled for several years serving as Office Manager at Lernerville Speedway before health issues forced her into an early retirement. But of her many accomplishments in racing, she was truly humbled and proud to be inducted into the Lernerville Speedway Hall of Fame in 2014 along with Ouch Roegnik, Johnny Axe and Jack Sodeman Sr.
Lindas viewing is Sunday, December 2 from 2:00-6:00 PM at Foxs Funeral Home in Saxonburg, followed by the funeral itself at the same location on Monday at 11:00 AM.
Rest in peace Linda Fennell! Our racing community is better for having you in it! God speed!
