Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway hosted their first Fast Friday of 2019 on Friday, May 3rd, with plenty of breathtaking action. Three classes were offered on the bill including IMCA Sport Mods, Super Sports, and Sportsman. The night would see the production of the first repeat winner on the season while two new faces graced victory lane.

Reigning IMCA Sport Mod champion Jorddon Braaten found his way back to the winner’s circle and the Central Point native won the first race of the year for the division. Molalla’s Travis Pruitt was the runner up over third finishing Jayson Nelson, of Springfield. McMinnville driver Frey Swere ended the evening in fourth over Brandon Fox, who was fifth.

In the Super Sports Albany’s Randy Barley put together a great run to park it on the front stretch for the first time this season. He managed to beat out last week’s winner, James Slover of Lebanon, for the win followed by Jefferson veteran Mike Betker, in third. Robert Mercer, originally from Kissimmee, Florida but now residing in Springfield, was an impressive fourth while fifth went to Darryl Blanchard.

Lastly, Tom Yeack once again reigned supreme in the Sportsman ranks. The Crawfordsville chauffeur got the job done for the second week in a row and in doing so became the first repeat winner of the season in any division at Willamette Speedway. Kent Emry was a notable second with Lebanon’s Chad Slover, in third. The balance of the top five consisted of Portland native Brian Brown, in fourth, over defending track champion Ryan Emry, from Corvallis.

Willamette Speedway is next in action on Saturday, May 4th, for another bout of wonderful racing action. Classes on the schedule include the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks as well as the 2019 debuts of both the IMCA Stock Cars and Hornets.
