Freeman races to 11th-place finish at Senoia Raceway
Payton Freeman began his pursuit for the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals championship on Friday afternoon at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) as the mini-series kicked off the Crank it up 100. With 23 Late Models entered, Freeman timed in third-fastest overall before picking up a heat race victory. Starting the $10,053-to-win A-Main in third, Payton got turned around by another competitor on lap 22 while batting for a podium spot. The following night at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.), Payton laid down the second-quickest lap overall but hit a hole in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main. After going for the win on the final lap, Freeman got spun around, forcing him to rely on a provisional into the A-Main. With $10,053 on the line, Payton advanced forward 10 spots in the 53-lapper to place 11th.
