Ethan Poll Wins His First and Biggest Sport Compact Race of the Year at Sweetwater Speedway
The weekend started off rocky or should we say wet start as the sky opened up and down poured at the track on Friday cancelling that nights events. Promoter Kara Beech said that they would have been able to get the show in except for that a second wave of rain came at 4pm and did not stop for over an hour. Pitt Construction worked tirelessly to pump almost 20,000 gallons of water from the infield so that the go-karts could race and it was safe for all competitors.
Ethan Poll in the 59p was the victor in the IMCA Sport Compact Special. He started 5th in the main, took a dominating lead, and went home $1000 richer. This is his first win in the IMCA Sport Compact. He was followed closely by Marc Hammond, last years Points Champion, who spun and caused an early caution but battled back from 26th to finish a close 2nd. Hammond still has the 2024 points lead in this division at the track.

For the IMCA Sport Mods it was Brian Carey in the 55c from Aztec New Mexico who was the first repeat winner at the track. He started 10th and methodically worked his way up to the lead. Slade Pitt in the 35 probably put on one of the best performances to only be struck down with mechanical issues yet again this weekend. His dad, Dave Pitt in the 28 put on a commanding performance and battled from 9th to finish 2nd. Brian Carey now has a 1 point lead over Pitt in the track points.

Probably the most amazing show to watch all night ended up being the IMCA Modifieds. The track was smooth and it made the line around the top the place to be. It was a night of sliders that was dominated by Casey Delp in the 2w but with around 5 laps to go Bryson Yeager in the 33y made his way to the front. It was one of the closest battles for the lead we have seen in a while and Bryson won the feature by .02 of a second over Delp. Braxton Yeager in the 33BY still holds on to the points lead by 7 over brother Bryson who is tied for second with the 21 of Trayke Metz of Idaho.
